The Tennessee State men’s basketball team shot 50 percent from deep, but fell to the Morehead State Eagles 74-68 on the road Saturday.

The Tigers (4-9, 0-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Travis Harper II, who had 22 points, six rebounds and three steals. Aaron Nkrumah added 14 points and two blocks and Carlous Williams chipped in as well with 14 points.

The Tennessee State offense was strong from downtown, pouring in 10 threes on 20 attempts. Harper II hit six treys for the Tigers in the contest.

The Tennessee State defense held Morehead State shooters to only 38.7 percent from the field, including 27.8 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

After falling behind 13-12, Tennessee State went on an 8-0 run with 11:50 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Travis Harper Ii, to take a 20-13 lead. The Tigers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 32-30.

Morehead State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 43-39 advantage before Tennessee State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Travis Harper Ii’s three, to seize a 45-43 lead with 13:54 to go in the contest. Morehead State re-asserted control, outscoring the Tigers 31-23 the rest of the way to hand Tennessee State the 74-68 loss. Tennessee State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting eight shots from deep to score 24 of its 38 points.
